High Court Reacts to Film Reviews Ban

Film Reviews BanAs we had reported earlier, Mubeen Ruaf, a film director who worked on ‘Aromalinte Adyathe Pranayam’ approached the high court asking them to stop critics from reviewing his film for a week post its theatrical release.

The High Court has passed decisive orders on the issue today and here is what they had to say about the same.

The court ordered the police chief of Kerala to take affirmative action against calculated reviews that are only aimed at belittling and tarnishing the image of the film.

“It is one thing to say the movie is bad due to these reasons, and another to say that I did not like a movie due to certain reasons,” the bench stated, as quoted by Livelaw.

The court opined that it is fine for professional critics to operate at will and share their constructive opinions on films, or any product for that matter. The court added that those who act with vested interests to bring down a film have to face legal action for their acts.
