Lokesh Kanagaraj’s DC: Big Release, Poor Bookings, Why?

DC advance bookings before release

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj‘s debut film as an actor, which is DC and directed by Arun Matheshwaran is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on August 7th. With only a few hours left until release, the pre-bookings for the film have started across all the centres.

Since its announcement, DC has created huge expectations among audiences, as many people are eagerly awaiting the chance to witness director Lokesh Kanagaraj’s performance as an actor. Additionally, all 15 tracks from the film composed by Anirudh Ravichander became viral hits, accelerating the hype even more.

According to the reports, the pre-bookings for DC are very average in Tamil Nadu and the pre-bookings for the Telugu version of the film, which is also releasing on the same day, are very poor despite being allotted a large number of screens just because of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s popularity.

In response to these poor pre-release bookings for DC’s Telugu version, many trackers suggest that the DC team has not even conducted a single event in the Telugu states to promote the film and ground-level promotions are also very poor. They claim that many Telugu people are not even aware of the release of DC.

They note that Lokesh Kanagaraj is now a very popular figure among Telugu audiences, as his next directorial venture is AA23 with Allu Arjun. Hence, they feel that the makers of DC have wasted a potential market and suggest that the success of the Telugu version now relies solely on positive word of mouth. Additionally, they are questioning why so many screens are allotted for a Tamil film, which doesn’t even have hype or promotion in Telugu.

Meanwhile, according to reports, DC is not releasing in Singapore due to poor release planning, making this the first Sun Pictures film that has failed to release on time in that region.

Ultimately, with poor release planning and a lack of promotion, the success of DC now relies solely on positive word of mouth. It remains to be seen whether DC will satisfy the expectations of the audience and emerge as a surprise blockbuster upon its release tomorrow.
