AA23 Not Enough? Is Lokesh Kanagaraj Taking on Too Much?

Lokesh Kanagaraj during AA23 pre-production

Following the failure of Coolie, Lokesh Kanagaraj is busy with the pre-production work of his next directorial venture with Allu Arjun, tentatively titled AA23. At the same time, he is awaiting the release of his debut film as an actor, DC, directed by Arun Matheswaran.

Alongside these commitments, the shooting of Benz, which is being produced by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is progressing rapidly. Despite an already packed schedule, reports suggest that he is also planning to back another project under his production banner, G Squad.

According to industry reports, Lokesh Kanagaraj is considering a female-centric film featuring Regina Cassandra in the lead role. The project is reportedly set to be directed by Vishal Venkat, known for films such as Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal and Bomb.

Reports further suggest that the film could be produced on a first-copy basis for Mythri Movie Makers. While details remain limited, the speculation has generated considerable interest among fans and industry observers.

There is also growing speculation that the proposed film may become part of the Lokesh Kanagaraj Cinematic Universe (LCU). If that happens, it could introduce the first female lead character within the expanding LCU franchise.

The rumours have triggered mixed reactions on social media. Some users believe Lokesh Kanagaraj should focus entirely on AA23, especially after the setback faced by Coolie. They feel handling multiple projects in different capacities could divert attention from a crucial film in his career.

Others have welcomed the reports and see them as a sign that Lokesh Kanagaraj is expanding the LCU. According to this view, introducing new characters now could help strengthen future films connected to the cinematic universe.

Some fans also believe that once AA23 is completed, Lokesh Kanagaraj may prioritise LCU-based projects. They expect the filmmaker to continue building the franchise with interconnected stories and characters in the coming years.

As of now, there has been no official confirmation regarding the project. It remains unclear whether Lokesh Kanagaraj will produce a female-centric film with Regina Cassandra and whether it will eventually become part of the LCU.
