There is no release in sight for many of the movies that were slated to arrive in summer. If all things happened as planned, the much talked about debut also could have been out by now. We would have got complete clarity on its fate.
However, nothing is known now, and yet the talks of a remake have surfaced. The movie in question is Uppena. It marks the debut of director (Buchi Babu Sana) and its lead pair (Panjaa Vaisshnav Teja and Krithi Shetty). The film is reportedly going to be remade in Tamil. And what’s more, its remake rights have been snapped up by none other than Vijay Sethupathi.
Incidentally, Vijay Sethupathi plays a vital antagonist role in Uppena. The Tamil star is planning to rope in the son of Tamil star Vijay as the lead. If the buzz turns out to be true, it could be one of the craziest projects in Tamil film industry.
Irrespective of the truth behind the remake, the fact that there is such a consideration suggests, Uppena could be strong on content. Unfortunately, with no release in sight, all we can do is speculate.
As far as Vijay’s son, Jason Sanjay is considered, he is currently getting trained for acting debut. However, nothing is official yet about the Uppena remake from his side.
Mythri Movie Makers produce Uppena. It has music by Devi Sri Prasad. A couple of songs from the album were out before lockdown, and both elevated the status of the movie among the general audience.
