With theatres’ future still a big question and not knowing the pulse of the audiences if they would be ready to throng to theatres once they open and the response to the 50% occupancy rate, there is much at stake regarding the coming festival releases.
The closed theatres may open in December 2020, but one can’t foresee what is in store. Without actual clarity about the outcome, it’s quite a risky business to take the big movies to the theatres. How many films will actually be in the Sankranthi race?
Whichever movie releases first will give a foresight to the other movies about what would be in store for them. So, Sai Dharam Tej’s ‘Solo Brathuke So Bettaru’ is coming to theatres this Christmas. So, this movie’s fate will either encourage or discourage the makers to opt either a theatrical release or a direct OTT release. Theatre business is anyway in doldrums.
This movie would decide if OTT is going to have the same feed in the form of big movies from big directors or else, it will slow down and return to normalcy that was there before COVID-19.
