In 2020, when the world was shut down, and people were desperate to watch some quality content in the comfort of their homes, director Hansal Mehta delivered a knockout series titled Scam 1992 based on the life of Harshad Mehta on Sony LIV. The series is termed one of the first blockbusters in the OTT arena from India.
Hansal Mehta then delivered another terrific crime drama web series in the form of Scoop earlier this year based on Jigna Vora’s biographical memoir Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison. The series impressed the audience and critics alike.
Now Hansal Mehta is coming up with another series, which will be again a part of his Scam franchise. Sony LIV is marking its 3rd anniversary of Scam 1992 by revealing the release date for the highly anticipated series “Scam 2003: The Telgi Story.”
The series, based on the book “Reporter Ki Diary” by journalist Sanjay Singh, will start streaming on September 2, 2023. The series is helmed and produced by Hansal Mehta and directed by Tushar Hiranandani.
Hansal Mehta is one of those very few makers who have understood the pulse of OTT audiences. His style of making web series with a crime angle and then mixing it with facts, authenticity, realism, and thrills has caught the imagination of the audiences. Let’s hope he continues his winning streak with Scam 2003.
