Parasakthi Title Controversy

The Parasakthi title controversy between Dawn Pictures’ Aakash Baskaran and Vijay Antony has been resolved amicably.

Both sides reached an agreement, finalizing that Sivakarthikeyan-Sudha Kongara’s film will retain the title Parasakthi in Tamil and Telugu.

Meanwhile, Vijay Antony’s film will be called Shakthi Thirumagan and will use Parasakthi for its Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam versions, with its Telugu title yet to be announced.

The issue began when both banners announced their films with the same title on the same day.

Vijay Antony Film Corporation had initially titled its film Parasakthi in Telugu, backed by a South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce certificate. Dawn Pictures countered this by sharing title registrations from the Tamil and Telugu Film Producers Councils, along with the CBFC certification for their title teaser.

The matter gained further traction when AVM Productions, the makers of the 1952 classic Parasakthi, publicly endorsed Dawn Pictures’ claim, stating that the film would carry forward the original’s legacy.

In a rare show of maturity in the industry, Aakash Baskaran and Vijay Antony met and resolved the issue without turning it into a public spat. This sets an example for filmmakers on handling disputes professionally.




Unlike many past incidents where legal battles or social media wars took center stage, the Parasakthi issue was settled strategically, ensuring a win-win outcome for both teams.
