Hero Toxic Fans Send Rape, Death Threats to Heroine

Ramya Darshan controversy

Actress and former MP Ramya, popularly known as Divya Spandana, is facing a horrifying wave of online abuse after she condemned the toxic fan culture surrounding the Darshan-Renukaswamy murder case. Ramya revealed that a section of Darshan’s supporters has been relentlessly targeting her with rape and death threats after her comments on the issue went public.

In some of the most disturbing messages, users went as far as to say she should have died instead of Renukaswamy, the fan allegedly killed for posting derogatory comments about actress Pavithra Gowda. Ramya has responded strongly to this abuse and announced that she plans to file an official complaint with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner to take action against those behind the threats.

Her statement came shortly after the Supreme Court sharply criticized the Karnataka High Court for granting regular bail to Darshan, Pavithra Gowda, and other accused individuals. The apex court stressed that while such an error could occur in a trial court, it was unacceptable coming from a High Court. The Karnataka government has already filed a petition to challenge the bail order.

Ramya’s remarks also touched on the broader issue of fan toxicity and how extreme loyalty can spiral into dangerous aggression. She pointed out that the behavior of some of Darshan’s fans was no different from that of Renukaswamy, highlighting a disturbing trend in celebrity-driven online mobs. Ironically, the brutal backlash she received after speaking out only reinforced her concerns.

This entire episode raises pressing questions about how unchecked fandom, when mixed with impunity and social media anonymity, leads to real-world threats and trauma. With the murder investigation continuing and emotions running high, there is mounting public pressure on authorities to ensure Ramya’s safety before these digital threats escalate into something even more sinister.
