SRK’s Lungi Dance tribute to Lungi, not Rajinikanth

It was initially so nice of SRK to pay tribute to one of the biggest superstars in Indian cinema – Rajinikanth. However, it’s the way he decided to pay tribute seems to have not gone down too well with far too many people. The new song called “Lungi Dance”, which was supposed to be a tribute to Rajini, now appears to mock at Tamilians for wearing Lungi.

First of all, Rajini wears Veshti and not Lungi. For starters, Lungi is like the localized version of shorts. People wear it at home for comfort, but not in public gatherings. Veshti is something worn for public function and even during festive season. It doesn’t make sense to dedicate a song that promotes Lungi wearing more than Rajinikanth, and unfortunately we call this a tribute to the superstar.

I’m sure nobody minds stereotyping, but please do get your fact right before you stereotype. Just because handful of Tamilians twirl mustache; it doesn’t mean everyone would do the same, too. I wonder why would even Rajini agree something like this at the first place.
