Active Producers have finally taken control of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce after years of dominance by senior but inactive producers. You have seen growing dissatisfaction over representation issues. The Active Producers Film Chamber shift marks a major change in leadership.
For a long time, active filmmakers felt those not making films could not understand current challenges. This led to the formation of a separate Guild. Still, the Chamber remained the statutory body, making this breakthrough significant for Active Producers Film Chamber politics.
With market disruptions expected in the coming years, the elections were taken seriously. Allegations against the outgoing President and Secretary over leasing the Chamber building also influenced voting sentiment. Despite this, Prasanna Kumar was re-elected as General Secretary.
In the elections, small producers contested under the Mana Panel, while big producers stood under the Progressive Panel. Out of 48 Executive Committee seats, the Progressive Panel won 31, while the Mana Panel secured 17. This gave full control to the Progressive Panel.
All key decision-making posts went to the Progressive Panel. Suresh Babu was elected President, with Ashok Kumar as Secretary. Suryadevara Nagavamsi and Bharat Chowdary became Vice Presidents, while Muthyala Ramadasu took charge as Treasurer.
Mohan Vadlapati and Vijayender Reddy were elected Joint Secretaries. The Chamber has 3,355 members, with voting crossing 40 percent. The newly elected executive committee will serve until 2027.
