Suriya and Jyothika have completed 20 years of marriage. Instead of just celebrating a wedding anniversary the couple decided to mark it by renewing their wedding vows. The video from the ceremony has now gone viral, with their children Diya and Dev also taking part in the special occasion. But more than the ceremony itself, Jyothika’s note about their marriage has grabbed attention.
Calling the celebration “The Sequel,” Jyothika described their 20 years together as “love and war.” She did not try to paint their marriage as a perfect one. Instead, she spoke about the imperfections, adjustments, understanding and sacrifices that came with spending two decades together.
The ceremony also had a strong family presence. Diya served as the maid of honour, while Dev walked his mother down the aisle. Suriya and Jyothika dressed in white for the vow renewal, giving the entire ceremony a wedding-like feel.
Suriya’s reaction was another highlight from the video. He appeared emotional when he saw Jyothika in her wedding gown again. After 20 years, the couple went back to their wedding vows, but Jyothika’s words made it clear that this was not simply about recreating their wedding day.
For the couple, the celebration was about everything that happened after that day too. Twenty years of marriage, with its good days, difficult moments and everything in between, was what they chose to celebrate this time.
