This has happened multiple times in the recent past with films like Batha, Dorothy and latest addition is Suriya’s Scene. There are virtually endless comments on Instagram and Twitter about how Telugu film makers must also start utilising their heroes like these Tamil and Malayalam directors who bring freshness into commercial space.

The desire to push Telugu film makers for interesting advancements in the commercial space is fully understood, but there is the commercial site to this as well.

For instance, the collective collections of films like Dorothy and Batha will hardly accumulate to the opening day revenues of an Anil Ravipudi film during Sankranthi. This is where the commercial side of things coming to play.

For certain films that are targeting a large largest section of the audience, there are certain commercial metres that need to be kept in mind and only then will the film generate revenues.

There is no doubting the fact that Telugu needs variety and experimenting like the neighbouring state film industries, but considering the stakes and efforts here, certain things need to be incorporated regardless of director’s wishes.
