Siddhu Jonnalagadda faced a major setback with his last film Jack. It wasn’t just that the film failed, the bigger shock was that the audience didn’t even bother to turn up for the first show. The real surprise came from how quickly the audience lost interest in a hero’s film who had earlier delivered two successful character-driven Tillu films.
Now, all hopes are pinned on Telusu Kada directed by Neeraja Kona, marking her directorial debut. A couple of songs have already clicked well, and the promo material so far has set a soft, breezy tone for the film.
However, during a promotional interview with Ravi Teja, Siddhu made a surprising statement. He said, “It is not at all a soft film. Half an hour into the film, my character turns very wild.” He also added that they haven’t revealed much about the story yet.
This directly contradicts the image the team has projected so far. The pre-release buzz and the promotional tone suggest a light romantic drama, but Siddhu’s comment hints at something very different. It’s clear that the team’s strategy has been flawed until now.
For any film, setting the right tone is crucial. It shapes audience expectations even before the release. While the trailer can still fix this, time is running out. Siddhu also hinted that the film has a plot twist or surprise, which hasn’t been communicated in any of the promotions so far.
Right now, most people assume it’s just another soft and simple film. This is the moment for the team to wake up and release a trailer that clearly defines what the film stands for. This might be their last chance to get the messaging right.
