Kerala-born Sunny Varkey will have his name along side Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and Wipro chairman Azim Premji by signing Bill Gates’s “The Giving Pledge” campaign. According to it, the 58 year old Dubai based Indian education entrepreneur will donate more than half of his wealth to charity.

The donated amount will be used for helping teachers around the world by signing a popular philanthropic campaign. Varkey said that his father who used to donate large portion of his small earning to charity is his inspiration. He also said that education is key to fixing so many of the world’s greatest problems: violence, poverty and health.
The Giving Pledge, founded by American magnate Warren Buffett and Microsoft founder Bill and wife Melinda Gates is instrumental in addressing various grave problems of the society by inviting the world’s wealthiest individuals and families to commit to giving more than half of their wealth to philanthropic and charitable causes. So far 136 billionaires from around the world signed the pledge.
