Yash Toxic

After KGF 2, Yash took a long break before starting Toxic, but now the film’s shoot is progressing at a rapid pace without major breaks.

The latest buzz is that the team has decided to film it simultaneously in Kannada and English, a move that has sparked debate.

Shooting in two languages comes with risks. It significantly increases production costs, and history hasn’t been kind to such experiments.

Films like Mahesh Babu’s Spyder and Nagarjuna’s Shanti Kranti struggled due to this approach. The only exception in recent times was Dhanush’s Vaathi/Sir, which managed to succeed somewhat.

Another key question is whether an English version of Toxic will actually help. Rajamouli proved with RRR that if the original version is strong, audiences are willing to watch it with subtitles.

Even Hollywood legends like James Cameron and Steven Spielberg praised RRR watching the Indian version.

If Yash is targeting an international audience, a well-dubbed release should suffice rather than filming separately in English. He could have done it in Hindi instead of English for more pan-India reach.

Toxic’s teaser, released on Yash’s birthday, received mixed response. Director Geethu Mohandas, known for award-winning films, has never handled a big commercial hero before, making Yash’s decision to sign the project already very risky.

With the pressure to maintain KGF’s success, the makers have postponed the release to ensure the film meets expectations. Kiara Advani plays the female lead, while Nayanthara has a key role.
