Amaravati To Have Mega Railway Terminal

Amaravati mega railway terminal project

Amaravati is set to get a world-class railway terminal with eight platforms. The Union Railway Ministry has decided to build this mega terminal between Amaravati and Gannavaram to match the city’s growing transport needs.

With heavy passenger traffic expected, the new terminal will ease congestion and improve travel comfort. At the same time, Gannavaram station will be developed to reduce the load on Vijayawada terminal. Vijayawada and Guntur stations will also be upgraded to handle more trains efficiently.

Around 300 acres of land will be needed for the Amaravati development, and the Railways has already requested the land from the Andhra Pradesh government. Gannavaram will also become a mega terminal, with 205 trains passing through it, for which 143 acres have been sought.
