The discontent among working teachers with the YSRCP government’s performance over the last five years is palpable. Promises like the cancellation of the CPS system have not materialized, and subsidies have been reduced, leaving teachers disillusioned.

The frustration has culminated in a significant mobilization of teachers to participate in postal ballot voting, with a record-breaking five lakh employees across the state applying for postal ballots.

Normally in every election about one and a half lakh applications are received for postal ballot votes. Some people do not like to cast postal ballot votes due to electoral duties. Voting has become a process of going to Mandal Centers and Constituency Centers, so many people do not vote. This time it is remarkable that five lakh employees across the state have applied for postal ballot votes.

In addition to that, Election Commission orders giving another chance to government employees who are unable to submit Form 12 on election duty. Now, EC gave facility to them to submit Form 12 for postal ballot and vote on 7th and 8th.

Despite facing obstacles in obtaining postal ballots, the determination of the employees to exercise their voting rights has prevailed. Many teachers have expressed their dissatisfaction with the YSRCP government through their votes, with indications suggesting that over 90 percent of working teachers may have voted for the TDP alliance.

Social media platforms, particularly WhatsApp groups of working teachers, have been abuzz with discussions and campaigns urging employees to vote according to their conscience. While not explicitly endorsing any party, the sentiment against the YSRCP is evident, with many urging others to vote against the ruling party based on their inner conviction.

This unprecedented level of participation and activism among working teachers highlights the significant role they play in shaping electoral outcomes and underscores the depth of discontent with the current government’s policies and performance.
