Andhra Pradesh High Court issued a Stay in the construction of houses in the R-5 Zone of Amaravati. R-5 Zone is close to 1500 acres earmarked for ‘housing for the poor’ in Amaravati.
These are poor people from outside of Amaravati. While the Government says it is to make the capital inclusive by accommodating the poor, the actual intention is to give house plots in Amaravati in the crucial places of the Master Plan so that it becomes unusable even if the government changes in 2024.
The other intention is to give house sites to YSRCP sympathizers in Thadikonda and Mangalagiri constituencies so that these votes are added to those constituencies making things difficult for TDP here.
Mangalagiri is the constituency of Nara Lokesh. So, it is like one shot two birds for Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The issue already landed in the Supreme Court and the Apex court allowed the distribution of house sites but asked the Government to add in the Pattas that the allocation depends on the final verdict.
That means nothing is confirmed but Jagan Government performed Bhoomi Pooja for 50,000 houses and vowed to finish them by December. Now, the High Court stalled this construction.
The Central Government refused to fund construction in a controversial area and Jagan announced doing it entirely from the state exchequer. Incidentally, Jagan Government did not construct a single house on its own anywhere in the state but took up this project for apparent intentions.
Jagan will now start the propaganda that TDP stalled the Housing for Poor project. But the Government should answer why it can not construct the 50,000 houses elsewhere in the state and help the poor.
Even if construction is allowed, it is not possible to complete the construction and move the people before the elections to defeat Lokesh. Now, this Stay and the legal hurdles make it impossible. The Backdoor plan to defeat Lokesh and kill Amaravati are completely lost now.
