The futuristic Bhogapuram, or Alluri Sitaramaraju Airport, is set for inauguration in August 2026. With a 3.8 km runway the longest in India the project is already 85% complete and stands as one of the country’s most modern airports.

Under Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s supervision, construction at Bhogapuram is moving at a rapid pace. The original target was June 2026, but heavy rains slowed down the progress slightly.

A successful trial run was already conducted in June, with an aircraft taking off from Bhogapuram ahead of the official launch. North Andhra is witnessing massive growth, drawing over ₹2,000 crore in new investments.

The project had been delayed earlier due to the previous government’s inaction. Once Naidu returned to power, he prioritised completing the airport in Vizianagaram. With industries expanding in the region, thousands of new jobs are expected.

Bhogapuram Airport will cater to around 16,400 passengers daily and nearly six million annually, positioning it as a major hub for the state’s growth and connectivity.
