Botsa to Contest From Bheemili?

Botsa Satyanarayana

DBotsa Satyanarayana is a prominent leader in Uttarandhra, leaving a significant impact on three districts over the past two decades. His influence remains strong in the ruling party, as demonstrated by his ability to retain his position in YS Jagan’s cabinet during the second reshuffle, even as others lost their berths. This underscores Botsa’s dominance and political acumen in Uttarandhra politics.

Following the state’s division, Botsa Satyanarayana faced defeat in the 2014 election from Chipurupalli but successfully won a seat in the Assembly from the same segment in the 2019 general election. Now, he is reportedly preparing to vacate Chipurupalli for the electoral victory of his wife, Botsa Jhansi. According to sources, Botsa is likely to contest from Bheemili, indicating a shift from Vizianagaram to Visakhapatnam district.

This move is politically strategic, given that Jagan has officially announced Botsa Jhansi as the YSRCP candidate for the Vizag Parliament seat, and she is actively campaigning in the Visakhapatnam segment. Allegedly, the YSRCP feels that it is not politically appropriate for Botsa to contest from Chipurupalli while his wife is running in Bheemili. Having Botsa contest from any Assembly segment within the Vizag Parliament constituency is seen as a move to enhance Jhansi’s chances of victory.

Former Minister Avanthi Srinivas is contesting from Bhemili, and if Botsa contests from the same segment, questions arise about Avanthi’s political standing. YSRCP will need to find a suitable alternative for Avanthi to ensure his cooperation with the Botsa family.

On the other hand, Ghanta Srinivasa Rao from TDP is expected to contest from the Bheemili segment. Ghanta, elected from Vizag North in 2019, has stated that he will not contest from Vizag North again. If TDP fields Ghanta in Bheemili, it sets the stage for an interesting political battle between leaders of the same community.
