2 Yrs Jail For Promoting Online Money Games!

Celebrities warned over betting apps

Celebrities and influencers who once claimed ignorance about online betting apps now face strict rules. They must be careful before endorsing such platforms, as the consequences are no longer avoidable.

Many Tollywood and Bollywood stars, ex-cricketers, and social media influencers promoted betting apps earlier. During Enforcement Directorate investigations, they denied taking money from the companies, but that no longer shields them.

The Indian government has introduced new guidelines under the PROG Act. These rules hold endorsers accountable. The Center has also given OGAI the authority of a civil court to act against violations.

If you promote these money gaming apps, you risk two years in jail and a fine of Rs 50 lakh. Operators of such games face up to three years in jail and fines reaching Rs 1 crore.

The new law allows arrests and raids without warrants. Any game offering winnings through bets or points now qualifies as a money game. You can no longer endorse such platforms without consequences.

Actors like Rana Daggubati, Vijay Devarakonda, Manchu Lakshmi, and cricketers like Yuvraj Singh and Shikhar Dhawan endorsed these apps in the past. Their names serve as a reminder of how risky endorsements have become.
