Also lots of efforts are being made to make people aware of the deadly effects of betting. Just as the IPL season begins, the police have filed cases on betting app owners.

Cases on 19 people were filed at Miyapur police station. The police are likely to give notices and interrogate them. Till now, the police have filed cases on 25 celebrities and YouTube influencers.
Around 15 to 20 suicides have been reported in Telugu states due to these betting apps as those who lost heavily could not pay back loans. The apps mostly attract those between the age of 16 and 30.

Massive efforts are being made by TSRTC MD VC Sajjanar to stop this addiction and create awareness especially in rural areas, where the impact is more.
For the unversed, incidentally the betting apps have been banned in Telugu states since 2017. But they find a back-door entry to every legally blocked app on the internet.

Most people lose huge sums through Chinese apps that give good returns initially but later the algorithms suck money out of the individual. As for those apps banned in Telugu states, the punters download GPS apps to misguide the betting apps.
When a meeting was held with Indian online betting apps, they defended themselves saying it was the Chinese apps that were behind the situation. They demanded the ban of Chinese apps, but indirectly that would increase business of India-based betting apps.
But the media is full of stories about the after effects of betting and stories of punters who lost huge sums due to betting. This should be a wake up call to those looking at betting either for fun or for making money.
