Communists Forgot The ABCD Of Elections

Communist Parties are struggling big time across the country.

In both the Telugu States, they are on the verge of extinction. In Telangana, their influence is seen in some pockets of the Khammam district, but in Andhra Pradesh, it is quickly declining.

Those leading the parties could not inspire people to join or support, or vote for the Red Parties.

Due to the hate towards the BJP, they tilt from one side to another.

With TDP and Janasena in the NDA, they are after YSR Congress now.

CPM State Secretary Srinivasa Rao came up with a strange logic to support YSR Congress’s EVM Tampering Theory.

“The party that got 40 percent of the votes in AP has 11 seats. Those who got more votes are getting fewer seats. How are those who got less votes are getting more seats?,” Srinivasa Rao questioned.

It looks like the Communist Parties not only forgot how to win elections, but they forgot how elections are conducted in India.

Indian Elections are not about getting a percentage of votes; it is a system of competition for seats.

The candidate who gets the most votes (even if it is one vote more) in each constituency wins. This is a system that has been in effect in our country since 1950.

A Party can get 40% Vote Share overall, but can still fall short of the needed majority to win each constituency, and so it would get fewer seats, like YSR Congress.

YSR Congress contested in all seats and got 40% Vote Share. Janasena’s Vote Share does not look big because it contested only in twenty-one seats.

If we consider the voting percentage in only twenty-one seats where both parties contested, we will understand how Janasena is superior to YSR Congress.

However, if Srinivasa Rao had ever contested and won in a single constituency on behalf of the CPM, he would have clearly understood this system. But a party that is always in a situation of losing its deposit does not understand this.

Instead of worrying about these complex numbers, Srinivasa Rao should ponder why CPM is confined only to less than 1% Vote Share for many elections now.
