The newly-formed Congress government plans to present a White Paper on Telangana’s financial situation in the Legislative Assembly on December 20, followed by papers on irrigation and energy departments.
The aim is to inform the public about the challenging financial state inherited by the current administration.
Bhatti Vikramarka has consulted with finance officials to assess the state government’s condition, revealing that the poor financial situation is a result of substantial debts accumulated during the previous government’s rule from June 2014 to December 2023.
The debt burden increased from Rs 70,000 crore to Rs 4 lakh crore during that period. The power utilities also suffered, accumulating a debt of nearly Rs 85,000 crore due to free power and subsidies.
The irrigation sector faces challenges with pending bills and issues in major projects like Kaleshwaram.
Now BRS working president KTR has launched a scathing attack against the Congress government, expressing skepticism about their commitment to promises.
KTR questioned if they have forgotten their guarantees after coming to power, using these white papers as a distraction. KTR, on Twitter (X), emphasized his nine-and-a-half years of transparent progress and denied claims of bankruptcy.
He said people care more about Congress’s promises than these reports, warning that unfulfilled promises could lead to an early exit for the ruling party in Telangana.
