Expert Committee in Polavaram to Decide Revised Cost

An expert committee of Central Government will be touring Polavaram for three days starting today. The committee will give a report to the Government about the status of the works going on and also about rehabilitation measures going on.

Basing on the report, the Central Government will take a decision on the revised estimates. The Union Government has been sitting on the revised estimates for a very long time. Things have become more complicated after TDP quit NDA.

The cost of the Multi-Purpose Irrigation Project which was initially estimated at 16,010.45 Crore increased to 57,940.86 Crore largely due to the increase of rehabilitation due to 2013 Land Acquisition Act which came into effect after that.
