Brijesh Mishra, the main accused in a scam involving fake offer letters from Canadian colleges, was arrested by the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) on June 23.
The scam was exposed in March when nearly 700 Indian students in Canada were facing deportation after discovering their admission offer letters were fraudulent. Many of them had obtained work permits and applied for permanent residency. It can be called a one-of-its-kind scam.
Joga Singh, the father of student Lovepreet Singh, expressed gratitude as his son’s deportation was deferred on June 10, and he believes that prayers have been answered. He hopes for justice for all the affected students and emphasizes the need for an investigation into the colleges’ involvement.
In addition, the “Stand for Student Morcha,” a student organization from Canada, has written to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, urging his intervention and collaboration with the Canadian government.
Many students are facing such scams in the USA as well. Their lives are getting destroyed by such fraudsters. After the scam bust in Canada, it is expected that such investigations will also be conducted in the U.S. by the Biden government as they are already moving ahead with H1b fraud investigations.
