The Hyderabad Disaster Response-Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has been the talk of the town in Telangana over the past couple of weeks.
HYDRAA has consistently been issuing notices to structures built by encroaching on lakes and ponds and is also demolishing them if necessary.
Yesterday, the government also announced the establishment of a dedicated HYDRAA Police Station to accelerate investigations into illegal encroachments.
Now, it is being reported that the government is planning to implement a rule requiring individuals to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from HYDRAA before constructing any structures in and around lakes and ponds. Sources suggest that an official announcement regarding this will be made soon.
Since HYDRAA began demolishing buildings around lakes, people have become hesitant to buy houses in those areas. As a result, many under-construction projects are experiencing losses due to no sales.
Thus, people have opined that obtaining a NOC from HYDRAA before starting a project will be beneficial for both buyers and builders.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy emphasized that the recent floods were a result of illegal encroachments on water bodies, and asserted that, regardless of how influential the individuals involved may be, HYDRAA will not hesitate to take action against illegal encroachments.
