Increase H-1B Visas: Companies To US Gov.

H1B VisaAmidst the ongoing recession and layoffs, there is a lot of concern amongst the migrant working class in the USA. Now, in an encouraging development, IT Serve, an association of small and mid range companies in the USA has urged the US government to increase the quota of H-1B visas.

There are as many as 2100 companies in the association and they have requested the government to double the current H-1B quota of 65,000.

The main plea is that there is a shortage of skilled workforce in the USA and the same can be fulfilled if the quota for H-1B is increased. They’re now pushing for a H-1B quota of 1,30,000.

The majority of the companies in the association tend to hire Indian workforce and now, the request to amp up the H-1B quota can come as a major news to the Indian workforce.

The association said they’re contributing $12 Billion to the USA GDP and the same can be enhanced by employing more number of skilled workers through the H-1B visa program.
