Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a visit to the US to discuss some political affairs with US President Joe Biden. The objective of the meeting was to discuss foreign policies and expand ties between India and the United States as The US considers India as a counterweight to China. Following Modi’s return, the US returned a few surprises to our nation as well. The old artifacts and jewels that were looted from India during the colonial rule were returned back with dignity.
These items included a 12th-13th century Marble Arch from Rajasthan, a 14th-15th century Apsara from Central India, a 14th-15th century Sambandar from South India, and a 17th-18th century Bronze Nataraja from South India. These antiquities represent our diverse culture and religion, and their return is a sign of acceptance of our strength as a nation.
Although the US returned these items, we are still waiting for Britain to return our Kohinoor, Peacock Throne, and many other valuable items that the British government plundered. England has acknowledged these items as belonging to Indians but you know… When will the British government return the rightful properties of India remains in limbo?
