It is a common trend in the tech and IT industry where companies carry out mass recruitments at engineering colleges. The conventional idea is that training and employing college students is less when compared to full-fledged engineers.
However, two major players of the game, Infosys and Wipro are said to be moving away from this trend of hiring campus students, well at least for this year.
IT giants Wipro and Infosys who had hired over 2,08,000 college students through campus placements in the last 3 years have decided not to go for campus hiring this year. This is the first time since 2008 that these companies have decided not to carry on with campus placements.
This comes at a time when the global economic slowdown is creating ripples in the tech and IT industries.
On the other hand, other tech giants, HCL and TCS have decided to carry on with their usual logistics when it comes to hiring college students.
