YSR Congress seems to have completely changed its stance on the Google Data Center coming to Visakhapatnam.
Earlier, YSR Congress social media teams and Sakshi went all out, claiming that data centers don’t create jobs, deplete groundwater, and consume massive power. They tried hard to paint the investment as wasteful.
However, with the public response turning overwhelmingly positive, the party appears to have taken a U-turn.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, in his latest media interaction, claimed full credit for bringing the Google Data Center to Visakhapatnam. He credited his government, Adani, the Central Government, and even the Singapore Government for making it possible.
This marks a sharp contrast to the party’s earlier stance, when YSR Congress leaders shared documents arguing that data centers generate few direct jobs.
Interestingly, Jagan’s new remarks echoed IT Minister Nara Lokesh’s earlier statement that data centers are about building a data-driven ecosystem, not immediate job creation. Jagan now agrees with that view.
He even claimed that Chandrababu Naidu deserves no credit for Hyderabad’s IT growth, crediting N Janardhan Reddy, YSR, and KCR instead for developing the city.
Regardless of his statements, it’s clear that the Google Data Center announcement has boosted the government’s image. Jagan’s sudden press meet looked like an attempt at damage control but also revealed how disconnected his media teams and Sakshi are from public sentiment.
