Lokesh’s ‘Baanam’ On RGV’s Vyooham

Nara Lokesh

TDP National General Secretary, Nara Lokesh, has recently lodged a petition with the Telangana High Court, challenging the film ‘Vyooham’ directed by Ram Gopal Varma. The petition urges the court to revoke/cancel the censor certificate issued to the movie.

The respondents listed in the petition include the Regional Office of the Central Board of Film Certification, the revising committee, Ramadutha Creations, producer Dasari Kiran Kumar, and director Ram Gopal Varma. Lokesh has also appealed to the producer to halt the film’s release. The court is scheduled to hear the petition on the 26th of this month.

Lokesh alleged that Ram Gopal Varma has been always expressing his preference for Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy while revealing his dislike for Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan.

Lokesh asserted that the roles in RGV’s movie were assigned based on his personal preferences and acknowledged that Chandrababu was misrepresented in the film. He believes that the entire movie is likely to align with what is portrayed in the trailer.

Lokesh’s petition contends that the film unfairly tarnishes Chandrababu Naidu’s reputation. It argues that the former Chief Minister has led a committed and transparent life for 70 years, and the movie aims to benefit Jaganmohan Reddy, who is his political rival, by defaming him. Lokesh criticizes the filmmakers alleging that their actions violate Chandrababu’s basic rights and damage the honor of the political party.

The petition also highlights the financial aspect, citing that previous films by the director-producer duo, such as ‘Vangaveeti,’ ‘Amma Rajyamlo Kadapa Biddalu,’ and ‘Lakshmi’s NTR,’ did not yield profits.

Despite the anticipated losses, the petition claims that ‘Vyooham’ was produced with the intention of benefiting Jaganmohan Reddy. Lokesh contends that Jaganmohan Reddy played a role in the production of the movie.
