BRS leader and former Narsampet MLA Peddi Sudarshan Reddy passed away late on Thursday night after undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad. Hospital authorities confirmed his demise. He was 51.
Sudarshan Reddy was admitted to the hospital after suffering chest pain on July 26 in Hanamkonda. He was initially rushed to a private hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with cardiac arrest and provided emergency treatment. After his condition stabilized, he was shifted to Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad for advanced medical care.
According to the treating doctors, he remained on ventilator support but did not regain consciousness. Medical examinations indicated severe brain damage caused by prolonged oxygen deprivation. Despite five days of intensive treatment, he passed away on Thursday night.
During his treatment at Yashoda Hospital, BRS president and former Telangana Chief Minister KCR visited Peddi Sudarshan Reddy to inquire about his health. KCR met his family members and spoke with the doctors regarding his medical condition. Several senior BRS leaders and party workers also visited the hospital and expressed hope for his recovery.
Born on August 6, 1974, in Nallabelli of the erstwhile Warangal district, Peddi Sudarshan Reddy hailed from a farming family. He gradually rose through the ranks in politics and played an active role in the Telangana movement.
He began his political career with the Congress before joining the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (now Bharat Rashtra Samithi or BRS) in 2001. The same year, he was elected as a ZPTC member from Nallabelli. In 2015, he served as Chairman of the Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation.
Sudarshan Reddy was elected as the MLA from the Narsampet Assembly constituency in the 2018 Telangana Assembly elections on a BRS ticket. During his tenure, he was known for focusing on public issues and constituency development.
Following the news of his passing, political leaders from across party lines, BRS workers, and supporters expressed their condolences. His death marks the loss of a prominent leader who played an active role in Telangana politics and the state’s movement.
