Ours is a caste-based society. It is not so uncommon for a political party being identified by a caste.
Almost every political party has the affinity of some community. Telugu Desam Party is supported by Kammas because the party’s founder NT Ramarao and Chandrababu Naidu belongs to that community.

Reddys support YSR Congress and Kapus support Janasena Party.
But then, always there are attempts to portray TDP as a Casteist Party.

Even though TDP is the party that gave major opportunities to the BCs, there have been attempts always to paint the caste color.
But the last few days have been an example of how ‘caste’ is never a primary issue for the TDP cadre.

Since last night, Telugu Desam Party Cadre is fighting for GV Reddy who resigned for the party and his position as the Chairman of the Fibernet. Leave aside who is right who is wrong in the issue, it is a very different scenario.
The cadre has revolted against its own leadership for a Reddy leader who joined the party just three and a half years ago.
So, what impressed the cadre in GV Reddy is not his caste but his subject and the fight he put for the party in the Opposition.
For an instance, the reactions on the social media are so strong that they do not mind bashing Chandrababu and Lokesh to bring back GV Reddy.
And then, there is Vallabhaneni Vamsi.
Vamsi belongs to the Kamma Community and was in TDP previously. He claims to be close to Paritala Ravi and also produced a film with Junior NTR.
But when he revolted against the party, the cadre disowned him and the highest point of this eight months rule for them is Vamsi’s arrest.
Again, there are no caste considerations here.
In contrast, YSR Congress high command and the cadres cared the least for Vamsi. Even a Reddy Social Media activist’s arrest evoked bigger response than Vamsi’s arrest. The reason is Kammas are second-grade citizens in YSR Congress.
But for the TDP cadre, party interests are paramount and caste does not matter.
But still they are branded as Casteist but the fact remains that nothing matters for them except for the party interests.
