Amaravati

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is coming to the state on May 2 to inaugurate the Amaravati 2.0 construction works, will participate in a roadshow organized in the capital area.

He will reach the helipad opposite the Velagapudi Secretariat from Vijayawada Airport by helicopter.

From there, he will reach the venue in an Open-Top Vehicle.

People will stand on both sides of the 1.25 km long road from the helipad to the venue to welcome the Prime Minister. Accordingly, barricades will be set up on both sides of the road.

It was the Prime Minister who laid the foundation for the capital in 2015.

Back then, the Prime Minister brought the soil from the Parliament and water from the Yamuna River.

He did not announce any financial support to the capital from the Central Government.

That has become a tool in the hands of the Opposition.

They mocked Narendra Modi saying that he brought only water and soil. They painted it as a failure of Chandrababu Naidu.

Even the Pro-Amaravati people were not happy with the Prime Minister’s act back then.

Even though they are not saying it openly, even the TDP supporters do not like the Prime Minister coming to inaugurate the Amaravati 2.0 construction works due to their past experiences.

But then, Chandrababu Naidu this term is doing everything to keep the Center happy so that the state can receive help.

Back then, the BJP had a clear majority on its own. But in 2024, the BJP needs the support of allies like TDP and JD(U) to form the government. So, there are hopes that the Prime Minister will announce something for Amaravati.

So things are a bit different this time. Amaravati has received assistance from the World Bank and HUDCO to help fund its construction. But then, these are loans with the Central Government as a Guarantor.

However, the Central Government has approved several projects like a new railway line, an outer ring road, and national highways connecting the city.

It has to be seen what the Prime Minister does this time.

But if he stays silent like the last time, criticism will follow from all quarters.
