Split in I.N.D.I.A Bloc, AAP Walks Out

Split in I.N.D.I.A Bloc AAP Walks Out

In a latest development, there is a split in I.N.D.I.A bloc. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to walk out of the alliance. According to AAP sources, they will not be attending the alliance meeting ahead of Parliament sessions.

They have clarified that they are no longer part of I.N.D.I.A. For now, the party has adopted the ‘ekla chalo re’ stand or ‘walk alone if needed’ stand.

The party that originated maintaining an equi-distant stand from the Congress and BJP, became a part of I.N.D.I.A bloc in 2024. But the party lost its image due to this step. And what made matters grave was AAP losing Delhi elections in 2025. It barely managed 22 seats compared to 90 in 2020, 2015.

Till then, Delhi was their bastion and they had to suffice with being in power in Punjab. With Punjab elections coming up in 2027, AAP chief Arwind Kejriwal has decided to go solo as they can now focus on an agenda tailored to suit regional requirements.

Also, being a part of I.N.D.I.A, AAP could not achieve its objective of moving further from Delhi and Punjab. By being a part of I.N.D.I.A, AAP is likely to lose its position in Punjab, which will impact its ambition of playing a role in national politics.

It will also lose state-level governance in Punjab which will impact its goal of spreading the party across India. Hence, AAP has decided to consolidate its present hold in Punjab as an independent alternative to both Congress and the BJP.
