Jolt For Three At Apex Court: AP Liquor Case

Supreme Court hearing in AP liquor case

Three accused in the AP liquor case received a major setback from the Supreme Court of India. The Apex Court denied regular bail to Balaji Govindappa, Krishnamohan Reddy, and Dhanunjay Reddy.

The Court directed the accused to approach the Trial Court within four weeks. Government lawyers informed the bench that all three were already out on default bail.

After hearing both sides, the Supreme Court declined to convert the default bail into regular bail. The judges stated that proper legal procedures must be followed at every stage.

The ruling reflects a growing concern over accused persons directly approaching the Apex Court. The Court observed that matters which can be handled by lower courts should not burden the Supreme Court.

Such decisions are seen as setting a strong precedent. They underline the importance of respecting the judicial hierarchy and allowing trial courts to complete due process.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that MP Mithun Reddy and former Rajya Sabha member Vijaysai Reddy have been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate. Mithun Reddy is expected to appear on January 23, while Vijaysai Reddy has been summoned on January 22.
