Supreme Court had heard the arguments of the Government counsel in the Special Leave Petition filed against the High Court order on Amaravati.
There were certain media houses and YSR Congress social media propagating that the Supreme Court issued a stay on the High Court judgment but it is not true.
After hearing the arguments, the apex court only issued a stay on Directions 3 to 7 of the High Court’s order. The Supreme Court did not find fault with the High Court but felt it is not right to issue time-bound directions to complete the capital works.
All the stayed directions (3-7) are pertaining to the time limit set by the High Court. There is no stay on the first two directions which are the important ones.
The first one is the state and APCRDA should discharge their duties enshrined under Sections II and III and Land Pooling Rules. The second one is the state or APCRDA should not use the lands for any purpose except for the construction or development of the capital.
The apex court issued notices to the state government and posted the next hearing of the case to January 31st, 2023.
Please find the directions that are stayed and that are not stayed from the High Court order.
