Tamilisai Sounderarajan, who worked as the Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, resigned yesterday to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
After her resignation, the central government made CP Radha Krishnan as the interim Governor of both Telangana and Puducherry. Radha Krishnan is currently serving as the Governor of Jharkhand. He now also has additional charges for Telangana and Puducherry.
Radha Krishnan was a senior leader of the BJP in Tamil Nadu. He was a two-time MP (1998 and 1999) who represented the Coimbatore constituency. However, he lost in the 2004, 2014 and 2019 elections. He was made the Governor of Jharkhand in 2023.
On the other side, Tamilisai Sounderarajan had six months to complete her tenure in Telangana. She had three more years in Puducherry.
However, she decided to leave the posts to contest in the elections. She is expected to contest from Chennai South, representing the BJP.
