Vijay TVK Political Party

Thalapathy Vijay floated his TVK (Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam) Party and announced that he would be contesting the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu in 2026.

Vijay also announced his current film, the remake of Balakrishna’s Bhagawanth Kesari will be his last before his complete political innings.

Vijay has been doing ‘ironed shirt’ politics until now. He is only confined to giving some statements now and then and releasing Press Notes.

While the Assembly elections are nearing, speculations have already started about the possible alliances of TVK.

On even days, there are reports that Vijay is working at the behest of the DMK to cut down the anti-incumbency and on odd days, there are reports of him having an alliance with AIADMK.

Fans peddle all sorts of demands like 70 seats to equal seat-sharing and even power-sharing.

Since Vijay commands a film following, there are certain media outlets and analysts who give these extravagant statements to attract fans.

But Politics is a different ball game. No major political party will give so many seats to a new party without a proven track record and as far as power-sharing is concerned, the less we talk about it the better.

Between 2019 and 2024, we used to see similar calculations and statements regarding Pawan Kalyan’s Janasena in Andhra Pradesh.

The Seat-Sharing numbers started from 100 and then were down to 75 and from there to 50.

There used to be demands for Power-sharing from 2.5 years to 2 years.

Finally, we have seen Pawan Kalyan settling down to 21 seats and 3 MP seats. The Power-Sharing transformed into a Deputy CM Post to Pawan Kalyan.

In terms of Popularity, Pawan Kalyan and Vijay are similar. But Caste Equations favor Pawan Kalyan more.

Further, Pawan Kalyan is a far more serious politician than Vijay. So, if these speculations did not work for Pawan Kalyan, it would be even more difficult for Vijay.

But then, Vijay fans say Tamil Nadu’s Political Turf is different as the state has a history of making film celebrities as the Chief Ministers.
