Does Vijay Even Care for Dead? Fans Not Convinced

Vijay Karur Stampede

The Karur stampede at Vijay’s TVK Party rally on September 27 has left the actor-turned-politician facing heavy criticism. Since the tragedy, Vijay has avoided public appearances and issued only two posts on X, which many saw as inadequate. Three days later, he finally released a video statement that has now gone viral.

In the video, Vijay said the stampede was the most painful situation he had ever faced. He explained that he chose not to visit the families immediately to avoid worsening the tense atmosphere. Vijay also questioned why such an incident happened only in Karur, despite his visits to five other districts being incident-free.

Addressing the arrest of TVK leaders and supporters, he said that if Chief Minister M.K. Stalin wanted political revenge, it should be targeted at him instead of his cadre. However, his comments have not gone down well with many. Critics argue he shifted blame onto the ruling party rather than taking accountability for the deaths.

Social media users slammed his remarks as sounding more like film punch dialogues than sincere words of regret. Many feel Vijay should have first accepted responsibility before pointing fingers at the government. His video has sparked a fresh wave of anger, with people questioning whether he truly cares about the lives lost in the tragedy.
