A man and his Chucky doll were arrested by the police in Monclova, Mexico, for scaring people and demanding money with a large knife. The man, identified as Carlos N, was reportedly under the influence of drugs when he used the doll to intimidate pedestrians in the city’s public square.
The police also handcuffed the doll and took its mugshot, along with its owner, at the police station. The doll, which is based on the horror movie character from the Child’s Play franchise, still had the knife sticking out of its pocket.
The officer who put handcuffs on the doll was later reprimanded for not taking her job seriously. Some journalists had jokingly asked her to pose with the doll and put it in cuffs.
The incident went viral on social media, where many users commented on the bizarre situation and the resemblance of the doll to the movie villain. Some also criticized the police for wasting time and resources on a toy.
This is not the first time that a Chucky doll has been used to prank or terrorize people in real life. In 2013, a promotional stunt for the Curse of Chucky film involved an actor dressed as the doll jumping out from behind a poster and chasing people with a fake knife in Brazil.
