Arshia Goswami, an eight-year-old girl from Panchkula, Haryana, defied age stereotypes and rose to prominence online for her weightlifting prowess. The prospective Olympic medalist set the record for the youngest deadlifted in 2021 by lifting 45 kg of weight at six. The India Book of Records validated her performance, and footage of her dominating weightlifting stunned the internet.
A recent Instagram video shows the eight-year-old child lifting 60 kg. Goswami stated in another video on her father’s Instagram account that she receives inspiration from Olympic medalist Mirabai Chanu, saying, “I love weightlifting and enjoy it a lot.” Today, I am the country’s youngest weightlifter.”
Other sports that Goswami loves are powerlifting and taekwondo. It all began when she joined her father, a skilled fitness trainer, during one of his regular sessions. She began deadlifting at six months and could lift 45 kg by the age of six. She also won a bronze medal in a state-level weightlifting competition. There was a text insert in the clip provided by Humans of Bombay that said, “At 8, I’m living proof that age is just a number.”
Instagram fans were blown away by the girl lifting 60kg. One user wrote, “I know many adults who can’t do this.” “Outstanding performance,” commented another user. Keep up the good work, Bachhe.” “Beta aaj,” said another user. “Hello, my 60 ke 15 rep maare, 3 sets. Jaan nikal gayi, aap to legend ho.” “Huge respect!” commented one user. There are far too many grownups who are incapable of doing so.” “All the best for your future, keep it up. Superb work” said another.
