A recent report has revealed screen time figures that are making many people rethink their daily digital habits. According to BofA Global Research data shared on August 1, 2026, the average Indian spends nearly two full days every month using Instagram.
The report shows that Instagram records an average usage of 49 hours and 42 minutes each month. This makes it the most used mobile app in the country. The numbers highlight the platform’s strong influence on everyday digital life.
YouTube follows closely with an average usage of 47 hours and 23 minutes. Between reels, shorts, and long-form videos, Indians spend a significant amount of their leisure time across the Meta and Google ecosystems.
Gaming and homegrown entertainment platforms continue to attract millions of users. Garena Free Fire records an average usage of 41 hours and 12 minutes, reflecting how deeply mobile gaming has become part of daily routines.
Facebook still records an average of 24 hours and 45 minutes every month. JioHotstar, Netflix, and MX Player together contribute more than 60 hours of streaming time. WhatsApp Messenger also crosses an average usage of 18 hours and 49 minutes.
The list presents an interesting mix of global and Indian platforms. Along with Instagram and YouTube, apps such as Ludo King, Carrom Pool, Moj, Kuku TV, and PLAYit feature among the top 20. This suggests that entertainment in India remains local, casual, and largely mobile first.
Zoom and Chrome also appear on the list with average usage ranging from 11 to 14 hours. This indicates that work-related activities and web browsing continue to occupy a considerable share of users’ screen time.
The report has triggered fresh discussions about changing digital habits in India. Spending nearly two hours a day on a single app now appears to have become a regular part of everyday life for many people.
