A disturbing incident has been reported from Chaibasa, Jharkhand, where medical negligence has put the lives of five children at risk. These children, all suffering from Thalassemia, were infected with HIV after undergoing blood transfusions at Sadar Hospital.
Thalassemia is a severe condition that requires patients to undergo frequent blood transfusions to survive. The affected children came from poor families who relied on government hospitals for affordable treatment.
This tragic event has devastated the families, both emotionally and financially. Their trust in the public healthcare system has now turned into deep anguish and anger.
According to reports, the hospital staff allegedly failed to conduct proper blood screening before transfusions. This carelessness led to the infection of HIV-positive blood being administered to the children.
Following public outrage, the Chief Minister announced a compensation of ₹2 lakh each for the affected families. However, many have questioned whether monetary aid can truly compensate for the lifelong suffering these children will endure due to this irreversible medical mistake.
The incident has sparked a wave of criticism and demands for accountability within the state’s healthcare system.
