One of the accused reportedly parted with Rs 1 lakh, while the other, perhaps more coerced, paid a staggering Rs 2.95 lakh. The situation took an unexpected twist when one of the victims sought help from his fiancée, leading to the intervention of Kerala police.

Swift action was taken by the Kerala authorities, who not only detained the errant Karnataka police officials but also managed to recover a total of Rs 3.95 lakh from their possession. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, Baby P V, affirmed that a comprehensive investigation was underway to ascertain the facts surrounding the detention and extortion claims.
