A recent rumour spread on social media that the Indian government was planning to rename the country as Bharat, which means “the land of the enlightened ones” in Sanskrit. The rumour claimed that the decision was made to reflect the ancient and cultural heritage of the nation, as well as to unify the diverse linguistic and regional groups under one identity.
However, not everyone was amused by the rumour. Many people took to social media to express their opinions and make jokes about the possible change. Some of the memes that went viral.

A reel which went viral especially among engineers which shares IITs called as BITs: A meme showed a video of a group of students dancing and celebrating. The caption said “BITS Pilani students after hearing IITs are renamed as BITs” and showed a laughing face emoji.
