The couple allegedly continued accusing the girls of drinking and drug use. Many viewers felt the remarks were based on stereotypes about people from the North East. The girls, however, were seen defending themselves calmly.
A police officer stood between the two groups during the confrontation. He appeared to be trying to calm the situation. Several viewers later criticised the response as ineffective.
