A woman was scammed through an online matrimony interaction. A man introduced himself as Hiraad Ahmad and claimed he was a doctor working in the UK. He stayed in touch through WhatsApp calls, chats, and video conversations and later proposed marriage.
He convinced her to open two bank accounts and purchase two SIM cards. He then pressured her to send the passbooks and ATM cards to a so-called UK Affairs office in New Delhi. He even sent fake visa documents and marriage certificates to gain trust.
Step by step, he demanded money using excuses such as visa processing, fines, luggage issues, and hotel stay charges. The woman transferred ₹3,38,200 to him, after which he disappeared and cut all contact. Realising she was cheated, she approached the police.
Police have registered a case and begun investigation using the details provided by the victim. The incident highlights how fraudsters continue to trap people on matrimony sites despite repeated warnings. Victims usually discover the truth only after losing money.
