Social media was set ablaze when a video of a door-like shadow materialized in the cloudy skies of Karnataka, captivating netizens and triggering a wave of bewilderment. The video, shared on Twitter by a Bengaluru resident, showcased the enigmatic phenomenon hovering over the Hebbal Flyover near Airport Road, leaving many to question the science behind the apparition.
Netizens quickly dived into speculation, with theories ranging from interdimensional portals to gateways to heaven. Some proposed that it might be a projection from a powerful spotlight or even an optical illusion created by a distant high-rise building. However, among the various conjectures, one stood out as a plausible explanation – the ‘Brocken Spectre.’
A Brocken spectre, also known as the Brocken bow or mountain spectre, occurs when the shadow of an observer is cast upon clouds opposite a strong light source, resulting in a magnified and eerie silhouette.
Interestingly, this is not the first time such an enigmatic spectacle has been witnessed. In 2017, a strikingly similar incident was recorded in China’s Shandong province, where a rectangular light emerged mysteriously from the clouds.
